Bruno Famin steps down as Alpine team manager
Bruno Famin will be stepping down as Team Director at Alpine in August. Sent back to Viry-Châtillon, he will concentrate on the Renault group's sporting activities. No announcement has been made regarding his successor, although rumors are circulating about Oliver Oakes or Flavio Briatore.
The information has just been shared by Alpine this Friday. Bruno Famin will leave his position as team principal in Formula 1 with Alpine. He will be reassigned to a new structure in Viry-Châtillon.
An expected outcome
Already speculated by numerous media outlets yesterday, Bruno Famin’s departure takes place after his arrival just a year ago. Changes that seem quite frequent at Alpine since his appointment as team director was not supposed to last.
He had joined the team in 2022 while he was in charge of engine development. To replace Laurent Rossi, who was removed from the team last summer, he had taken the position on an interim basis and had eventually stayed for this new year. While rumors now suggested an abrupt departure, it is finally today that the French team Alpine definitively confirms a departure from his position as team principal. The decision will take effect in August.
However, Bruno Famin will not leave the company. While he started his career with the team at Viry-Châtillon, he will take up a position within the French structure. According to the official statement, Bruno Famin will be in charge of all motorsport activities for the Renault group in Viry.
No replacement for the moment
In the statement shared by the team on social media, no replacement has been announced yet for the team principal position. Some rumors suggest that Oliver Oakes, head of Hitech in Formula 2 and 3, could take on the role, but it could also be Flavio Briatore who has returned to the team as an executive advisor. We will have to wait for updates from the team to know more.
