Mike Krack remains open to recruiting new staff
Aston Martin director Mike Krack confirms that the team remains open to new recruits, including Adrian Newey, who will leave Red Bull in early 2025. With several recent recruitments and the opening of the AMR Technology Campus, Aston Martin is looking to improve its performance for the end of the season.
Aston Martin’s director, Mike Krack, has confirmed that the team remains open to the arrival of future recruits. Particularly asked about the arrival of Adrian Newey, who is leaving Red Bull at the beginning of 2025, the Luxembourger confirms that there are no limits to recruitment.
A team always looking for strong hands
Recently, the team based in Silverstone has greatly increased its staff. With important names leading the way, Adrian Newey could be next. Recently, three big names from Formula 1 have joined Aston Martin. Among them, Bob Bell as executive and technical director, formerly with Alpine. Former Mercedes chief Andy Cowell joined the team as group director, and Enrico Cardile, formerly with Ferrari, as technical director.
Mike Krack, who was asked about a signature from Adrian Newey, confirms that the team remains open for the moment. We are still in a period of growth. We must be open-minded and dynamic, both in terms of personnel and car development. It is not a sport that rewards consolidation,” he said, as reported by Formula 1. “It is always necessary to look for what can be improved, what can be changed. This does not necessarily mean that you make the change, but you must continue to ask yourself the question.”
Aston Martin is currently in fifth place in the constructors’ championship. With several issues on the car lately, the team is focusing on the modifications to be made during the summer. The end of the season will soon start and the team is still far from its performances of 2023. As a reminder, Fernando Alonso had held the third place on the podium for several weeks in a row with his Aston Martin at the time.
New facilities to expand.
The expected developments also include the full opening of the AMR Technology Campus, a new building dedicated to the construction of the single-seater. For now, only part of the building has been open since the British Grand Prix. The rest will soon follow according to official statements. This new construction will include a wind tunnel, facilities for the team’s staff, and a new simulator.
Mike Krack acknowledges that the arrival of this new infrastructure is what will allow Aston Martin to compete with the biggest teams. We are developing to the point of reaching parity with the leading teams in terms of numbers. When the AMR Technology Campus is completed, we will have a world-class facility to manufacture F1 cars that also offers a pleasant, inspiring, and rewarding working environment, as well as a useful tool for recruitment, he explained.
With more space for staff, the team manager confirms that the doors are still open for new arrivals. As long as the team seeks to progress, new employees will join Aston Martin. Every time a new person arrives, I am asked if it’s the last piece of the puzzle. It’s not the case. It will never be, he said. We will continue to look for new recruits because maybe there is someone else who could enhance us. It is important to remember that we have a lot of talent within the team that we are constantly trying to develop.
Adrian Newey’s addition to the team could well be the new talent that Mike Krack is talking about. He, who worked for Red Bull for several years, left by unveiling a first and last Hypercar. A car filled with technological innovations. While Aston Martin continues to seek ways to improve, the arrival of the former Red Bull technical director may be what the team has been missing.
