First fine of the weekend for Logan Sargeant in FP1
The Zandvoort Grand Prix weekend has just begun, and the first fine has just been imposed. The Williams Racing team has been fined 100 euros after Logan Sargeant exceeded the speed limit in the pit lane.
The first free practice session at Zandvoort has barely ended when the first fine of the Formula 1 weekend has already been issued. Williams driver Logan Sargeant has been penalized for a breach of the sporting regulations. While the amount of the fine is relatively low, it still serves as a warning to other teams.
The sanction concerns a violation of Article 34.7 of the sporting regulations, entitled « speeding in the pit lane ». According to current regulations, the maximum permitted speed in the pit lane is set at 60 km/h in the Netherlands. The FIA confirmed that Logan Sargeant’s car did not comply with the imposed limit. « Car 2 exceeded the pit lane speed limit, set at 60 km/h for this event, by 0.5 km/h. ». The American driver was measured at 60.5 km/h, which is 0.5 km/h above the permitted speed.
This minor infraction resulted in a €100 fine for the Williams Racing team. As specified by the FIA, the team has the right to appeal the decision of the race stewards.
