Lando Norris: “The car was perfect”

After his victory in the Netherlands, the McLaren driver was obviously delighted with his performance, but doesn't yet want to protect himself against the possibility of winning the title at the end of the season.

With more than twenty seconds ahead of Max Verstappen at the finish line in Zandvoort, Lando Norris could only be satisfied after dominating this Dutch Grand Prix.

« Victories are always satisfying. Despite the start, the car was perfect, and I was able to push throughout the race. Even though I lost the lead on the first lap, I remained calm and preserved my tires. I knew I could catch up to Max. I just had to stay focused. » The English driver thus recalls that he was overtaken again at the first corner after securing pole position.

Norris also wants to pay tribute to his team. At Zandvoort, McLaren brought its first upgrades since Miami at the beginning of May. And we can say that these seem to have worked very well.

« The developments have met our expectations. It’s the small things that make the difference. A new rear wing, a new part. They bring us a lot so thank you to the team. But even without them we were already very fast since Miami.

In the championship, Norris is now only 70 points behind Verstappen with only nine races left to contest and three sprints. But the now double Grand Prix winner prefers not to think about it, for the moment.

I take race after race. I have been fighting for the championship since the first race of the season. Let’s see what will happen by the end of the year.

Meet now in Monza starting next weekend for a new discussion among the different protagonists of the championship.
