Max Verstappen: “I tried to do the best I could”
In front of his home crowd, the Dutch driver was no match for the impressive pace of Lando Norris's McLaren during the race.

They had, however, come in very large numbers to support him. The orange wave that flooded the stands of Zandvoort throughout the weekend saw its favorite driver bow on his home turf for the first time. Despite a good start that allowed him to lead the race for about ten laps, Max Verstappen had to admit defeat.
Translate: « We encountered balance issues throughout the weekend, from the first free practice sessions until the race » begins the triple world champion. « I tried to do the best I could. When Lando passed me, I didn’t have the means to defend myself. I just had to focus on my race.
Interviewed about the championship and whether he felt threatened with Lando Norris now 70 points behind him, Verstappen preferred to dodge the question.
« This weekend was bad in general. However, we must not panic. We are working and everything can change very quickly in Formula 1. There is no need to be alarmed. »
To him and his team to react as soon as next week in Monza on a track that is totally different from Zandvoort.
