For several weeks, Adrian Newey has become one of the favorite subjects during Grand Prix weekends. With several contenders for his future, the latest rumors indicated the arrival of the Red Bull engineer at Aston Martin. An interest that was confirmed by team director Mike Krack.

A long list of choices

Adrian Newey has won 25 Formula 1 constructor championships throughout his career. The beneficiaries, Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull, have always praised him. But today, as he is set to leave Red Bull, the competition to secure his services has sparked numerous rumors. While Ferrari was initially in the lead, the conditions requested by Adrian Newey did not convince the team, which preferred to withdraw. Recently, several reports have suggested that Adrian Newey has chosen to join Aston Martin and that the official announcement will be made in September. While the team has not confirmed the rumors, it does not prevent them from showing great interest in the engineer.

In an interview with F1TV, Mike Krack, team director, addressed the issue. While he acknowledged the competition to secure the signature of Adrian Newey, he also confirmed that Aston Martin is volunteering to welcome him. “I think we are all making efforts, but I believe this is also true for all the other competitors,” he stated. “Everyone is trying to have someone of this caliber in their team. I think we are in contention with other teams.”

The names on the list of candidates did not escape anyone. Last week, the contact between Flavio Briatore, executive director of Alpine, and the Briton was already announced. However, Mike Krack does not feel intimidated. « I read last week that another team, Alpine, entered the game, and it is part of the rumor, but I would be really happy if he came to us in the end. »

Adrian Newey remains focused on Red Bull.

The sudden interest of Alpine adds a new layer to a story that has been going on for a long time. While other teams had kept their distance since the announcement of their departure, as the end of the season approaches, everyone seems to want to sign the former Red Bull member. However, Adrian Newey does not want to be distracted. He, who will officially leave the reigning championship team by early 2025, remains focused on his goals.

Since announcing his departure, Adrian Newey has found a manager. The former founder of Jordan Grand Prix, a Formula 1 team from 1991 to 2005, Eddie Jordan. In a podcast titled “Formula For Success”, the Irishman provided an update on the current situation regarding the Briton. “He is still working with Red Bull on the terms of the RB17 and he is absolutely delighted,” revealed Eddie Jordan. “For now, he just wants to enjoy the summer… He will have time to make his decision, and when there is something to say, he will say it.”

However, Adrian Newey’s new manager also pointed out that there are agreements between Red Bull and his former engineer. Therefore, if a new contract were to be signed, it should be done according to the team’s requirements.
