Hungarian Grand Prix – F2 Qualifying: Jack Doohan on pole position, 3 French drivers among the top 5
In an extremely tight qualifying session, it's Jack Doohan who claims the pole position ahead of Victor Martins and Fred Vesti. Théo Pourchaire is 4th, with Isack Hadjar in 5th.

On a dry track, the drivers take off for 30 minutes of qualifying.
At the end of the first attempt, it’s Fred Vesti who sets the fastest provisional time, ahead of Jack Doohan and Victor Martins. At the same time, Ayumu Iwasa announces raindrops in sector 2. Danger, Théo Pourchaire has no time.
But quickly, the drivers go out again and the lap times drop. Vesti solidifies his provisional pole position, one-tenth ahead of Martins and three-tenths ahead of Pourchaire. Then, Stanek hits the wall and the red flag is waved. Iwasa, another contender for the title, is provisionally in 5th place.
Ten minutes of interruption and the session resumes, still without rain. At the halfway point, Jack Doohan squeezes himself between the two ART GP cars and takes 3rd place.
Seven minutes remaining in this qualifying session and the drivers are getting ready for their final laps. Pourchaire takes provisional pole position but is immediately beaten by Vesti. Oliver Bearman is currently 4th. Iwasa is struggling to put it all together and is unable to rank higher than 10th place.
Théo Pourchaire sets off for a quick lap, the French driver is pushing his limits. Victor Martins improves at the same time and takes provisional pole position, 39 milliseconds ahead of Vesti. A few moments later, Doohan takes the first position from Martin by 52 milliseconds. The gaps are minimal in this session.
Fred Vesti enters the pit lane while Théo Pourchaire sets off for one last fast lap in an attempt to do better than 4th place. But he makes a mistake and gives up on his attempt. Martins doesn’t improve either.
The pole position goes to Jack Doohan, just ahead of Victor Martins and Fred Vesti. Pourchaire remains in 4th place, ahead of another French driver in 5th, Isack Hadjar.
