Loïc Serra becomes the chassis technical director at Ferrari
The Scuderia announced this Thursday a new crucial step in its quest for performance for the upcoming seasons with the appointment of Loïc Serra as technical director of the chassis department. Former engineer at Mercedes, Serra will officially join Maranello on October 1st, after a period of mandatory leave that delayed his arrival.
This change is part of a strategic reshuffle orchestrated by Frédéric Vasseur, the team principal, who temporarily took over the position left vacant by Enrico Cardile in July. The latter left Ferrari to join Aston Martin. Meanwhile, the technical restructuring at Ferrari is taking shape, with Loïc Serra taking over the chassis department.
Fresh blood to prepare for the future
In a press release, Ferrari announced that Serra will have direct responsibility for several crucial areas: « In this new role, Serra will report directly to the team principal, Fred Vasseur. Serra will therefore be in charge of the following departments: Chassis Project Engineering, led by Fabio Montecchi; Vehicle Performance, led by Marco Adurno; Aerodynamics, led by Diego Tondi; Track Engineering, led by Matteo Togninalli; and Chassis Operations, led by Diego Ioverno, who also retains the role of sporting director.
This reshuffle is accompanied by a comprehensive technical reorganization aimed at strengthening Ferrari’s competitiveness. In parallel, the position of technical director of the power unit remains assigned to Enrico Gualtieri, who will report directly to Fred Vasseur.
At Aston Martin, Cardile will join the technical team headed by Dan Fellows, with an announcement expected on Adrian Newey’s participation as a consultant, further strengthening the ambitions of the Silverstone team.
