Alonso: « A third F1 title is my only priority
Fernando Alonso, double Formula 1 world champion, says that his priority remains to win a third title with Aston Martin. Although he sees a potential return to the Dakar Rally as an exciting challenge, he has clearly stated that his main goal is to focus on F1 in the coming years.

Fernando Alonso recently stated that he is considering a return to the Dakar Rally, but he remains primarily focused on his goal of winning a third Formula 1 world championship with Aston Martin. At an event sponsored by Aston and Cognizant, he reiterated that his sole current priority is to clinch this coveted title.
Formula 1 above all
At 43, Alonso has not lost sight of his ambitions and aspires to add a third title to his record. The strengthening of Aston Martin’s technical team, with the arrival of Adrian Newey and Enrico Cardile, boosts his ambitions.
As a reminder, the Spaniard signed a new contract with Aston Martin earlier in the year, which binds him to the team until 2026, with an ambassador role that will extend his association with the manufacturer beyond his racing career.
Asked about a possible return to Indianapolis to complete the triple crown of motor racing, he said: “I tried the Indy 500 three times and I did not succeed. It is the only one missing for me. But for now, it is not in my plans.”
Alonso emphasized that he is very, very focused on Formula 1 for the next two to three years.
Regarding the Indy 500, he expressed doubts about the level of commitment that a return to this flagship event would entail: « I think the commitment it would require to go to the Indy 500, the learning time I would have to dedicate again… that could be a bit too much. Or that’s what I think right now, I can’t say 100%. »
A potential return to Dakar
On the other hand, Alonso mentioned a possible return to the Dakar Rally, which he sees as an exciting challenge. During his participation in 2020, he finished 13th with Toyota, despite an accident in the decisive stage, which cost him precious time.
Translate: « I think my biggest challenge will be the Dakar. If I can win the Dakar, I think it will be extremely rewarding for me personally, (he) said.
For the two-time world champion, the Dakar represents a new opportunity to prove his versatility as a driver: « You can’t drive a Formula 1 car the same way as a Le Mans car or a rally car. I had to learn and start from scratch in many of these categories, surround myself with the best drivers in the world, specifically in this series, and learn from them.
Alonso once again proves that he is ready to take on new challenges while keeping his eyes fixed on his main goal: a third Formula 1 title.
