Are we going to see Mercedes back at the top of endurance racing? It’s very possible. The German manufacturer has reportedly been working for several weeks on a possible return to the premier categories of endurance racing: the WEC and IMSA.

According to Dailysportscar, Mercedes is considering entering an LMDh prototype. Our colleagues reveal that the German brand was in talks with several suppliers: chassis, engine, brakes… A situation that would further confirm Mercedes’ interest in this category of motorsport.

A return of Mercedes to endurance racing would be great news. The star brand has been absent from the world championship since 1999 following the numerous accidents of the CLK. Videos that have gone around the world.

Mercedes could also join the WEC with the GT3. But for that, the car must be homologated and the list of entrants must be checked. With the growing interest of manufacturers in the discipline, space is starting to run out.

Lamborghini could temporarily withdraw from the project to develop its Hypercar. The Iron Dames, who are also in a Lamborghini GT3, are expected to switch back to Porsche for 2025. So many factors that could benefit Mercedes in the future.
