Significant progress on the 2026 regulations for the FIA
The 2026 F1 regulations are still a draft. If it has already been published and allows teams to prepare, in reality, it has not yet been finalized and the FIA announced on Wednesday that it has made significant progress in drafting the final 2026 regulations.
Formula 1 (chassis) teams are prohibited from working on the 2026 Formula 1 regulations, which contain many major changes, until the beginning of next year, in a few weeks. The 2026 regulations have already been published but are still considered a draft. Teams and the FIA are therefore regularly working on it to improve certain aspects, whether they be sporting, technical, or financial.
Therefore, this Wednesday, after the F1 commission organized by the FIA, the latter announced that it had made significant progress regarding the definition of the regulations: « The regulatory drafting process for 2026 has made significant progress. »
« Section A, which aims to establish a coherent framework for all subsequent sections, should be presented at the first meeting of the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) in 2025.

« In section B, revisions to the Sporting Regulations will integrate gender-neutral language, underscoring the FIA’s commitment to inclusivity. The Commission was updated on the progress made with the teams, and the Technical Regulations (section C) should be finalized for the next CMSA, with overall objectives in terms of initial performance levels on track to be achieved.
« Regarding Financial Regulations (section D), measures to strengthen confidentiality during investigations and other procedural aspects have been discussed. »
The latest 2026 regulations currently published date back to October 17. The FIA will therefore update and publish the new documents within a few days to detail the modifications made and approved with the various stakeholders.
