Everything comes to him who waits! Impatience is already gaining some fans, many of whom are looking forward to seeing Lewis Hamilton take the reins of a red single-seater. So much so that rumors have circulated that the driver could take part in the end-of-season Pirelli tests at the wheel of the current Ferrari. These reports have been denied.

Esteban Ocon and Carlos Sainz, who will also be leaving their team at the end of the year, will take the wheel of the Haas and Williams during these tests. So why isn’t Lewis Hamilton allowed to do the same? The answer is simple. The plan is for the seven-time world champion to make an appearance for the team’s main sponsor, Petronas, on December 10, a date that coincides with the Abu Dhabi tests.

As announced even before the start of this 2024 season, after 12 years with the Silver Arrows, Lewis Hamilton will join Ferrari in 2025. Now we know that he will have to wait until that same year, when he will be completely released from his commitments with Mercedes, to take his first laps with the Reds.

His first appearance at the wheel of a Ferrari will surely take place during the winter break on the team’s test circuit in Fiorano. As indicated by the regulations, Lewis Hamilton will be required to drive an old F1 car and should therefore try out the F1-75, the car for the 2022 season. He will then take advantage of the usual pre-season tests in Bahrain to get used to his 2025 car.
