George Russell wins victory in Las Vegas: “I was waiting for something to happen”
It's a perfect weekend in Las Vegas for George Russell: after claiming pole position on Saturday, he wins the race on Sunday. A great double for Mercedes.

It was a particularly happy George Russell that we could hear on the radio after crossing the finish line this Sunday. The Briton won the Las Vegas Grand Prix after starting from pole position, a flawless race, it must be said. The emotion and relief are palpable on his side during the ride to the podium in… a Rolls Royce, with Lewis Hamilton in 2nd, and Carlos Sainz in 3rd, on board.
Speaking before the podium, he obviously emphasized how relieved he was to leave with this trophy. “I will not take the plane tonight, I will stay here to fully enjoy this dream weekend.” Las Vegas is an incredible place. The pole position, a dominant weekend with Lewis… I couldn’t have dreamt of anything better,” he declared. It is indeed a beautiful double for the Mercedes team.
George Russell said he was particularly relieved to have been able to achieve the victory, as his recent pole positions have been unsuccessful this season. The last two times I was on pole, things went wrong: in Brazil, the red flag, there is always something happening. I was expecting it to happen again, but this time everything went perfectly. I am so happy!, he concluded.
