Valtteri Bottas wishes to see Alfa Romeo climb back up the grid hierarchy. The team is currently second to last in the constructors’ standings with only 9 points scored in 11 races. Despite some improvements during this first part of the season, the team has failed to climb up the hierarchy.

« We took a step forward, but other teams have also taken steps forward too, that’s the nature of the game. So we need to do a bit more », explained Valtteri Bottas in a press conference.

« We have nothing to expect from the next two events before the summer break. The guys and girls really need to work hard at the factory to bring in new components. We are approaching the halfway point of the season and we haven’t been able to make any progress in the standings, said the Finnish driver.

The set goals this winter have not been achieved. We will have to show a completely different face to climb up in the rankings. « We were expecting the car to be better than last year, but we haven’t found enough things during the winter and the beginning of the season so far. We are not reaching the goals we set for ourselves, but we need to work hard now »,” stated number 77.

But the season is still long. While other teams are planning further improvements for the upcoming races and after the summer break, Alfa Romeo is definitely aiming to enhance the performance of its car. The former Mercedes driver, however, warns his team about the upcoming decisions to be made: « At some point, we need to decide when we will shift our focus to next year, and I’m sure these discussions will take place soon. »
