Fernando Alonso is “ready for 2025”
Fernando Alonso is eager to return to competition in 2025 after scoring crucial points at the 2024 finale in Abu Dhabi. The Spaniard praised Aston Martin's efforts for overcoming the challenges faced throughout the year.

After an impressive start to the 2023 season, highlighted by six podiums in the first eight races, this season did not bring the same success to the team. Their best result was a 5th place finish for Fernando Alonso in Saudi Arabia. Despite this, the Silverstone-based team finished fifth in the Constructors’ Championship.
Fernando Alonso finished the year with consecutive points in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, where he placed seventh and ninth respectively. Asked after the finale in Yas Marina about the importance of these points for Aston Martin following a challenging year, Alonso replied: « Yes, they were important. I think finishing on a positive note in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, with two double-point finishes, is a good thing. I think it’s well-deserved too, as the team on the ground never stopped working and extracting the maximum from the cars, so yes, I enjoyed today’s race. »
There was quite a bit of action, especially in the first round, and yes, I am ready for 2025 with a little reset on certain points. Regarding the car, I think we have learned a lot of things this year that we need to apply to next year’s project, so I am looking forward to it.
Alonso quite satisfied with his season
Regarding the positives to take away from a difficult season, Alonso once again praised the team for never giving up in the face of challenges encountered.
« I think we encountered difficulties this year, more than last year, and the team responded well to these adversities and challenges, » explained the double world champion.
« This weekend is a good example. We were not satisfied with the car, but that doesn’t mean we accepted it; we kept racing. Despite a slow pace, we found more performance in the car and still finished in the points, so we never give up. That’s the way forward. »
The end of the year was less positive for his teammate Lance Stroll, who finished 14th at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after receiving a five-second penalty for exceeding track limits. When asked about seeing a difficult season come to an end, the Canadian replied: “Yes, we raced, but I am looking forward to some rest before coming back next year.”
To boost Aston Martin’s morale in 2025, the arrival of F1’s technical genius, Adrian Newey, will be a major asset. The renowned engineer will start his work for the team based in Silverstone, on March 1st next year.
