Red Bull is working with Ricciardo to test the Pirelli tires this week
Daniel Ricciardo is conducting tire tests today, Tuesday, and tomorrow. A return to a single-seater that could open doors for him to reenter the world championship, especially now that we know a little more about the situation within AlphaTauri.
This Tuesday and Wednesday, Pirelli is conducting its tire tests at Silverstone. Three teams are participating in these tests: Haas, Williams, and Red Bull. The reigning world champion team has decided to let Daniel Ricciardo drive their car.
The Australian driver had not driven a Formula 1 car since the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2022. The former Red Bull, Renault, and McLaren driver is enthusiastic about getting back behind the wheel. « I’ve been itching to drive in general. But I’ve had enough of the break now and I have ants in my pants. Of course, it’s an amazing car and I’m excited to drive it at Silverstone, on such a fast circuit. » Daniel Ricciardo explained to the Australian media SpeedCity Broadcasting.
The pilot, who has won 8 Grand Prix races, is confident about a possible return to F1. « I let everything unfold naturally and I have confidence that I will be back on the grid at some point. Obviously, I’m not 100% sure, but I’m convinced that it will happen again one day. » says the reserve driver for Red Bull.
Since returning to Austria, the reserve driver has exclusively been working on the simulator. With the tire tests, the Australian is driving for the first time since returning to Red Bull.
With Nyck de Vries’s poor start to the season, rumors are circulating that the Australian could join Red Bull’s junior team no later than 2024 to replace the Dutch driver at AlphaTauri. « I never know, I never know. I stay ready. I sat on the couch for two months during Christmas, but since then, I’ve resumed my training and made the most of it. » tells Daniel Ricciardo.
The Dutch media announced today that Nyck De Vries would be excluded from AlphaTauri for the rest of the season. If this news were to be confirmed and if the test with Red Bull goes well, Ricciardo could very well see his predictions come true.
