Dakar 2025 – Stage 6: A Mini with the best time, another one crashed
A contrasting day for the X-Raid Mini team with a stage victory for Guillaume de Mevius but also an accident and retirement for his teammate Guerlain Chicherit.

Does the second part of the Dakar hold a different scenario for us than the first? After a flawless performance by Toyota in the first five stages with five victories, in addition to the best time in the prologue, it is a Mini that has now topped the timesheet.
At the wheel of a Countryman still swift despite its many years traversing the Dakar tracks, Belgian Guillaume de Mevius, who finished second last year, won the 6th stage between Hail and Al Duwadimi. Now co-driven by Frenchman Mathieu Baumel, he was ahead of another Mini, driven by the Portuguese duo Joao Ferreira and Filipe Palmeiro. The story could have been very beautiful for the British manufacturer and the X-Raid team if not for the accident involving one of its other crews, Guerlain Chicherit and Alex Winocq. Sent tumbling by a bump, what remained of the Mini number 202 stopped after several meters. Suffering from neck pain, Chicherit had to be transported to the hospital.
Third in the stage, Nasser Al-Attiyah gains a few minutes on the leader Henk Lategan overall. With a half-hour delay and six race days left, everything remains possible for the five-time winner of the event. Yazeed Al Rajhi is still second, seven minutes behind, while Matias Ekström holds onto third place.
