Charles Leclerc’s former engineer joins Cadillac Racing
The next step in the career of Charles Leclerc's former race engineer, Xavier Marcos, has been revealed. He joins Cadillac Racing.

The former race engineer of Charles Leclerc in Formula 1 has landed a new position outside the premier category of motorsport. Xavier Marcos, who held this role at Ferrari between 2019 and mid-season 2024, has been appointed technical director of Cadillac’s LMDh sports prototype project.
The Spaniard had joined Ferrari in 2018 in a role as an engineer based at the factory before partnering with Charles Leclerc upon his arrival in the team, following his tenure at Sauber.
A new role for Xavier Marcos
Xavier Marcos was replaced last May, before the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, by Bryan Bozzi, who became the new race engineer for the Monegasque.
Before joining Ferrari, Xavier Marcos held a position as chief engineer in NASCAR and also worked in F1 for HRT, then Williams. According to Autosport, he will now head towards endurance racing in 2025, taking on the new role of technical director at Cadillac Racing for their LMDh program.
Charles Leclerc and Xavi have made an impression with some memorable radio communications during their five years of collaboration at Ferrari, including the famous message: “We are checking.”
Speaking about the change of race engineer last May, Charles Leclerc explained that this decision was the team’s: “The decision was made between the team and Xavi. They had other plans in mind, I guess, and it was communicated to me right after Miami,” he said.
« But that said, Bryan, who will take over Xavi’s role from now on, is someone I’ve been working with since I arrived at Ferrari. He has always been my performance engineer, so he knows exactly how everything works. It’s not like I’m starting from scratch or have to completely readjust. »
« Everything has gone very well so far, and I’m sure it will continue this way so that we are at 100% by this weekend. That’s all I can say. »
