A weekend to forget for francophones. Alpine scored no points in England. Worse yet, the Franco-English team saw both cars retire from the race. Esteban Ocon was forced to stop his race on the 9th lap, after not making it to Q3 in qualifying and starting in 12th place.

« We unfortunately had a hydraulic problem, the car wouldn’t have lasted another lap. So we decided to “box” and bring the single-seater back to the garage because it wouldn’t hold. It’s not a good day for us, that’s for sure. We also had more speed than what we showed this weekend, we will have to work hard to try to make up for the points we lost this weekend and the ones we didn’t get last weekend. » stated the Frenchman to the media.

« This is only the second race where we haven’t scored many points. In the other races, we qualified 6th and 8th, and still managed to score a lot of points. So it’s just two races where we’re not at the top. » admits the Alpine driver to Canal+ microphone, after his retirement.

Alpine lost the 5th place in the constructors’ championship this weekend. A position that McLaren recovered thanks to their impressive performances over the weekend. The English team obtained 30 points during this Grand Prix (18 for Lando Norris due to his second place and 12 for Oscar Piastri’s fourth position, editor’s note).

« McLaren had a great speed all weekend, they brought a big upgrade on their cars. We also need to bring something. Our new wing worked well this weekend, but we have bigger things coming before the break so we’ll see if we can fill that gap too. »
