Aston Martin has unveiled the first images of its AMR25

After unveiling its livery at the ceremony in London last Tuesday, the British team this time revealed its car for the 2025 season. Several modifications have been introduced to try to return to the forefront.

Five days after the ceremony organized in London for the 75th anniversary of F1, the Aston Martin team unveiled its real car for the F1 season this Sunday. Retaining Aston Martin’s traditional green, the engineers made some technical modifications. A necessity after a 2024 season below the team’s expectations (no podiums last season and a fifth place as the best result).

A modified Aston Martin for increased stability

Among the main changes made, there is a new cut in the pontoons, modified front and rear wings, as well as the engine cover. Finally, the floor has been reworked to provide more stability to the car, something that was heavily criticized by drivers last season. Issues of balance and difficulties in low-speed corners were particularly highlighted. However, Lawrence Stroll’s team decided to retain its pushrod suspensions both at the front and rear of the car.

« For this year’s car, we really took into account the lessons and feedback from last season. We focused on designing a more manageable single-seater for Lance and Fernando, striving to make it more docile », said Andy Cowell, the new director of the Silverstone team. This is a feature that must be observed on the track as the team has not progressed for two seasons and is increasingly falling behind the front-runners. Therefore, for 2025, the team’s objectives have been revised downward. We must learn from our mistakes to best prepare for future challenges.

Improve in 2025 to be well-prepared for 2026

« Our ambitions are realistic and aim to allow us to continuously improve in all areas, especially as we approach a crucial regulatory upheaval for 2026 », confirmed the former engine chief from Mercedes. For their part, the drivers expressed their motivation for the upcoming season. They particularly hope that past mistakes will not be repeated.

« We learned a lot in 2024 and the team is using that as a driving force as we approach this season with the AMR25, said the double world champion from Spain who is about to start his third season with the British team. « The competition will be very tight for this last year under the current regulations, but I know the team has worked hard within the AMRTC to ensure we are ready. » The new car is indeed the team’s first that has been designed in the new facilities located opposite the Silverstone circuit.

For his part, Lance Stroll sees 2025 as an opportunity for Aston Martin to demonstrate that it can create high-performing cars. Everyone at AMRTC has put in a tremendous amount of effort this winter to make progress in 2025. As a team, we all want to perform well, and we will continue to learn throughout the season. What we are building here is an extremely exciting project, with excellent tools and talented people. 2025 is a key year for us to make progress.

Newey: The Providential Man for Aston Martin?

Moreover, she will have a strong reinforcement to achieve this: Adrian Newey. The former Red Bull engineer will join the British team on March 1st. Even though he wasn’t able to design the 2025 car, his expertise will already have a significant impact throughout the season. Nevertheless, the team is aware that the absence of new regulations this season won’t allow them to regain the top positions. Like other teams, they are doing everything possible to best prepare for 2026.

In the meantime, the two drivers took to the track this Monday in Bahrain, two days before the start of winter testing, which will take place from February 26 to 28.
