The first Grand Prix of the season will have 4 DRS activation zones, these movable rear wings, which when opened allow for an increase in top speed.
Like last year, Melbourne will have two detection zones. In order to activate their DRS (Drag Reduction System), a driver must be less than one second behind the car in front. To do this, they must be under this limit at the detection zone. Then, for each detection zone, two successive straight lines allow the DRS to open, potentially increasing top speed.
