Esteban Ocon and Haas regulars in Australia: a 13ᵉ place to start the season

The Australian Grand Prix, the first round of the 2025 Formula 1 season, was an intense spectacle full of twists and turns. In difficult weather conditions, British driver Lando Norris came out on top with victory, leaving France's Esteban Ocon in thirteenth place.

In this chaotic context, Esteban Ocon showed great consistency during this first Grand Prix of the season in Australia. Starting from the nineteenth position on the grid, he gradually climbed through the field to finish in thirteenth place, 33.161 seconds behind the winner, McLaren driver Lando Norris. This performance demonstrates his ability to handle difficult conditions and optimize the performance of his Haas VF-25.

« We maximized what we had in our hands. Unfortunately, it was a complicated race, we were lacking a lot of speed and grip. Even when we were in contact with others, I thought we would hope to be in the points; they were just in front of us, there was a battle going on. I thought I might be in the battle. We had a big grip deficit, which is very strange because that wasn’t the case in Bahrain. The speed we had this weekend wasn’t normal, but I know we’ll be able to find answers and work hard on it. We will increase our performance in the upcoming races », said the Haas driver to Canal +.

Even before the start of the race, Ayao Komatsu acknowledged on F1 TV’s microphone that the team had identified the problem that pushed their two cars to the back of the grid but that it would not be a short-term solution. We can therefore expect the two drivers to continue to struggle in the upcoming races, starting with next week in Shanghai.
