A difficult weekend for Pierre Gasly
The 2025 season is full of surprises, and Alpine is no exception. Already close to the points in Australia, the Normandy-based team once again came close to its first Formula 1 top 10 at the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday. Pierre Gasly crossed the line in eleventh place after a hard-fought race and before being disqualified.

Pierre Gasly deprived of points after a bitter disqualification
Pierre Gasly was very close to securing Alpine’s first points of the season at the Chinese Grand Prix. Starting 16th on the grid, the Frenchman delivered a combative race, gradually climbing up to reach the verge of the top 10. He ultimately crossed the finish line in 11th position, offering a glimmer of hope for the French team.
However, the joy was short-lived. A few hours after the arrival, the commissioners announced his disqualification due to a non-compliance with the weight of his single-seater. A hard blow for Alpine, which remains stuck at zero points after an already complicated start to the season.
« I think we’re a bit penalized by our qualifying. Yesterday we lacked a bit of performance. After that, in the race, we managed to get into the pack, and there are things to improve. But I’m sure we’ll work on it and find more performance in the coming weekends. I fought hard and gave everything in the car, and we’ll keep doing that. I think it’s extremely tight in the midfield. We’ll focus on all the details to improve together with the team to go for those points in the next Grand Prix, » Pierre Gasly told Canal+.
Alpine still without a point: a season struggling to take off
Alpine is experiencing a very complicated start to the season. Despite encouraging signs in China, the French team once again comes away empty-handed after Pierre Gasly’s disqualification, while Jack Doohan continues to struggle at the back of the grid, putting his future in F1 at risk.
If the performances seem to be slightly improving, they remain insufficient to compete with the mid-field teams. Alpine remains the only team not to have scored any points at the start of the 2025 season, a frustrating record for a team that is not among the least performing on the grid. Between bad luck and strategic mistakes, the French team must quickly turn things around or risk seeing their hopes of progress vanish.
