Video: A legendary Peugeot 905 destroyed in an accident
A Peugeot 905, one of the legends of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, was destroyed in an accident on the Barcelona circuit.

The images are heart-wrenching. On Saturday, March 22, Peter Auto organized its traditional Espíritu de Montjuïc event at the Barcelona circuit. This event, reserved for historic cars, brought together some of the most legendary endurance racing cars in the world. Among them were a Porsche 917 and a Peugeot 905.
The Lion was involved in a violent accident during the race. At the wheel, Soheil Ayari seems to have lost control, apparently due to a brake problem at the end of the long straight of the circuit. The tricolored car can be seen in distress, cutting the first corner, crossing the gravel trap before crashing into the tire wall.
If the French driver was able to exit the prototype by his own means, the Peugeot, on the other hand, suffered the effects of the crash. The entire front of the car is destroyed. And the chassis seems to be in bad shape. The accident caused a red flag and the end of the race.
The event was broadcast live on the Peter Auto YouTube channel, but the organizer removed the footage of the accident from the live stream. Only a highlight remains. The scene was captured by several spectators present in the stands.

According to the list of entrants, the Peugeot 905 #2 belongs to Mr. John of B. He is a French collector who entered several cars during this competition weekend.
As a reminder, the Peugeot 905 was entered three times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and won the classic twice: in 1992 and 1993. Yannick Dalmas, Derek Warwick, and Mark Blundell led it to success the first year. Then Christophe Bouchut, Eric Hélary, and Geoff Brabham the following year.
