The official trailer for F1 25, the official video game of the 2025 Formula 1 season, has been revealed by EA Sports and Codemasters. The game is set for release in May on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a special edition highlighting Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton stars in the teaser and the Icon Edition

The F1 25 reveal video sets the tone right away: we see Lewis Hamilton, driving his Ferrari, engaged in a fierce on-track battle. A symbolic image of his first season with the Italian team after more than a decade at Mercedes.

The seven-time world champion also appears on the cover of the Icon Edition. This version will include exclusive content related to his career and the upcoming F1 film directed by Joseph Kosinski, starring Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem and young British actor Damson Idris. This cinematic dimension turns the game into a true narrative experience.

Lee Mather, creative director at Codemasters, emphasized this narrative aspect: « F1 25 offers players new ways to experience Formula 1 and race their way, from the drama of Braking Point to the chase for World Championship glory. This year, there are more opportunities than ever to connect, collaborate, and compete. »

A reshuffled driver line-up

The 2025 season is one of the most eventful in terms of driver transfers, and F1 25 takes full advantage of these changes. In addition to Hamilton at Ferrari, Oliver Bearman — now a full-time driver at Haas — features on the standard edition cover alongside Carlos Sainz (Atlassian Williams) and Oscar Piastri (McLaren).
The game will allow players to relive rising rivalries, such as Bearman’s, along with other young stars from the 2025 class, including Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), Gabriel Bortoleto (Kick Sauber), and Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls), among others.

Braking Point: a popular story mode returns

The Braking Point mode, absent in 2024, makes a comeback with a storyline centered around a fictional team, Konnersport, now a championship contender. Without revealing too much of the plot, the developers promise a « dramatic event » that will shake up the season. Players will also be able to adjust the difficulty — a first for this mode.

The My Team mode also gets a significant overhaul for the first time since 2020. Players step into the role of team managers, making strategic decisions for their team. This brings the game even closer to the real-life F1 experience.

More realistic circuits, reworked car physics

The trailer offers a glimpse of circuits scanned with LIDAR technology (Light Detection and Ranging), including Silverstone and Zandvoort, with more accurate kerbs and environments than ever before. The development team has also revamped car physics, though further details are expected in the coming weeks.

A release in the heart of the season

Scheduled for release on May 30, F1 25 will arrive at a pivotal point in the championship, with Hamilton aiming to cement his early results with Ferrari, while young drivers strive to make their mark.

Pre-orders are already open, with a discount available for previous game owners. The standard edition is priced at €59.99, and the Icon Edition at €79.99. A solid investment for an immersive dive into the world of 2025 Formula 1. Time will tell whether the trailer’s promises hold up once the game is in the hands of fans.
