She’s struggling to find her place. After a disappointing season in Formula 3, Sophia Flörsch headed to the United States to join Indy NXT, the feeder series to IndyCar. Following promising tests with HMD Motorsport, the team had decided to sign her for 2025.

At the opening round of the season, on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida, she only finished 12th after a crash during practice sessions.

A few weeks later, HMD Motorsport announced that the collaboration between both parties had ended « by mutual agreement ». The team also « wishes Sophia Flörsch the best of luck in her future endeavors. »

The German driver, usually very active on social media, did not comment on the announcement. She only posted a story showing herself with children during the autograph session at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2022 — her last appearance at the event. Knowing how deeply connected the Munich-born driver is to this race, and how she dreams of returning there, she may be eyeing that opportunity again. Especially since several teams have yet to finalize their driver line-ups for the event.

For her, this situation further complicates an already challenging career. After being dropped in Formula 3, losing the backing of Alpine, and now this split with HMD Motorsport, Sophia Flörsch may find it increasingly difficult to secure a full-time seat in a high-profile racing series. Especially considering, according to Feeder Series, the 24-year-old cannot continue this adventure due to financial reasons. Once again.
