Toto Wolff hopes to see Mercedes bounce back at Silverstone after a difficult Austrian Grand Prix

After two very encouraging races with the upgraded Mercedes W14 in Barcelona and Montreal, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton returned to the pack at the Red Bull Ring, finishing only 7th and 8th, behind both Red Bulls, both Ferraris, as well as an Aston Martin and a McLaren.

Their boss, Toto Wolff, is eager to erase these underperformances this weekend in Silverstone. We are delighted to return to racing after a difficult weekend in Austria where we scored a few points, without having the pace to do much more.

The Austrian shares about a highly competitive competition in the pack behind the untouchable Red Bull: The fight behind Red Bull is extremely tight and the hierarchy can evolve every weekend. This can be related to the specificities of the circuits or the developments brought by each team. We were on the wrong side of the equation in Austria, but we have the opportunity to bounce back immediately.

To achieve his goals, Wolff is counting, among other things, on new developments brought by his team: « The team has worked hard to learn from our performances in Austria. We now need to regain the momentum from previous races. New developments will arrive at Silverstone. So we have good reasons to be optimistic, although caution is still necessary. »

Wolff concludes his remarks by mentioning the incomparable atmosphere that prevails at Silverstone during the Grand Prix: “The ambiance is unique and the support from the fans is simply incredible. This is our home race, with the track located just down the road from our factories. The layout is fast and fluid, providing good racing, so let’s hope we can shine there and put on a great show.”
