The sun made its return to the Miami track at the beginning of the Saturday afternoon, but the heat and humidity make the grip even weaker, posing a challenge for our 18 drivers.

Emma Felbermayr makes a perfect start. The Austrian, after the qualifications, said she was confident: “I now have the experience of the front line during the first race, I just need to improve a little.”

From the first corner, a lot of commotion. The yellow flag is waved, and the safety car comes out. Ella Lloyd makes a mistake that costs her dearly, as she is forced to retire. The front wing under the floor. The Welshwoman poorly judged the space between her two opponents and the onset of braking, forcing Block and Ferreira off the track, but without mechanical issues for the Brazilian. It will be hard for her to recover, as she was hoping for a podium and had maximized her start by positioning herself correctly. She was playing in the lower part of the top 10.

Maya Weug, after falling behind during the qualifying session, made a comeback, moving from 10th place to 6th just in sector 1. Doriane Pin also took advantage of others’ congestion to climb to 2nd place, battling with Felbermayr’s Sauber. The latter would restart the race a lap and a half later at turn 17, but Pin reacted well, not letting go: she stayed a good while at 0.4 seconds from the leader. The battle between the two is fierce, with each taking turns leading.

Aurelia Nobels, under pressure from the two Red Bulls, holds firm. She will attack on lap 5, followed by Chambers, putting the top two on the defensive. Nobels overtakes the Sauber, with Palmovski taking advantage of the slipstream to slot in behind Nobels. Felbermayr goes all out with the car’s nose open, battling with Chambers. The Ferrari driver joins the fray, making the race very tight between 4th and 8th place. The following lap, Palmowski continues his ascent and finds himself 2nd, 0.7 seconds behind Doriane Pin.

Dobson, the wild card driver here in Miami, is 16th. Lap 7: Second yellow flag, Ciconte is across the track, left rear wheel broken due to contact with Chong. Havrada narrowly avoided the incident with a great reaction. Felbermayr took advantage of the safety car to quickly repair the nose of his car. Lap 9: Doriane Pin restarts the race, immediately establishing a more or less comfortable gap that she will maintain until the end.

With three laps to go, Maya Weug managed to overtake Aurelia Nobels in a perfect maneuver, taking 4th place. Behind them, Tina Haussman and Nina Gademan are still battling. It’s the Alpine driver who has the final say, moving to 6th place, gaining 8 places during the race.

Checkered flag waved, Doriane Pin savors the moment and thanks her team. In the championship standings, she is now just one point behind Maya Weug. Today, Doriane has all the cards in her hand for this second race and to prove her nickname, Rocket Pocket.
