George Russell: “I’m really happy to come away with third place”
George Russell had a solid weekend in Florida, finishing third in the main race at the Miami Grand Prix.

If the beginnings of the Mercedes driver were marked by some difficulties, particularly in qualifying, he was able to bounce back at the right moment to establish himself as one of the best of the weekend.
On Friday, George Russell showed encouraging pace during the sprint race. On a track made tricky by the weather, he remained consistent and managed to stand out. Without being able to compete with the two McLarens and his teammate Lewis Hamilton, he secured fourth position, earning valuable points.
Complicated Saturday, but not catastrophic.
In qualifying, the Briton was clearly not in his element. He himself described this session as the most difficult of his season, explaining that he never really found the right balance with his car. Despite this, George Russell managed to secure fifth place on the grid, just a few tenths away from pole position, evidence of yet untapped potential.
A well-controlled race, a well-deserved podium
On Sunday, George Russell demonstrated all his racing skills. Taking advantage of a good start and a well-executed strategy, he maintained his position while avoiding mistakes, ultimately crossing the finish line in third place. While the McLarens were simply out of reach, the Mercedes driver was the best of the rest, notably ahead of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
An encouraging weekend for the future
With this new podium, George Russell remains well positioned in the championship and confirms his consistency this season. Unable to fight for victory yet, he maximizes results at every opportunity. If Mercedes manages to improve its qualifying pace, George Russell could quickly aim for more.
« I’m really happy to leave with this third place because I struggled this weekend, personally. Well done to McLaren, they were simply too far ahead. Lando is mad at me because we had a crash during the Lego race, and I injured his leg! », said the Mercedes driver.
