A rather clean start. While the first meters at Spa are often complicated and tense, here, everything went well. Ferrari maintained its top three positions. Behind them, the BMW #15, thanks to soft tires, managed to gain five places in the initial laps.

Sébastien Bourdais, in the Cadillac #38, received a drive-through penalty for spinning the Porsche #5 in the first chicane of the circuit.

In GT3, the Aston Martin from Racing Spirit of Léman tumbled down the standings due to a poor start. Célia Martin, in the Iron Dames’ Porsche, got off to a good start, but the Porsche’s performance did not allow her to capitalize on the beginning of the race.

Returning to the traffic, Frédéric Makowiecki performed miracles: he managed to overtake the Peugeot #94, which managed to stay in the wake of the Ferraris. The Alpine #36 was even daring by snatching the third position from the Ferrari #83 of the private team AF Corse. The Frenchman managed to climb back to second place after a bold overtaking maneuver in the Raidillon, half an hour into the race.

At the same time, the second Alpine also began to make a comeback and put pressure on the Peugeots and the BMW #15.

The scare at the start of the race is credited to Kevin Magnussen. When coming up on GT3s in the Kemmel straight, the Dane had no choice but to take to the grass. He managed to control his hypercar.

Peugeot on fire too

In GT3, Célia Martin found her rhythm in her Porsche and managed to climb up to seventh position in her category.

At the end of the Kemmel straight, the Porsche #99 deliberately went straight; the engine cut out after revving up. The yellow flag was waved before the full course yellow was deployed. The hypercar was still able to continue.

At the restart, the Peugeot #94 and the Porsche #6 managed to overtake a Ferrari #83, which was lacking pace and performance. Moreover, the latter was brought into its pit at the end of the first hour.
