Lewis Hamilton: “It was a difficult day, there’s nothing else to say, it was terrible”
Lewis Hamilton was particularly downbeat after a complicated Spanish Grand Prix, admitting that he doubted Ferrari would be able to solve his performance problems.

The seven-time World Champion experienced a difficult weekend in Barcelona, finishing in sixth place.
A terrible day for Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton was forced to give up his position to his teammate Charles Leclerc following team orders from Ferrari.
After the safety car, the Ferrari driver continued to suffer from a lack of pace, even being overtaken by Nico Hülkenberg’s Sauber. Another lackluster performance for Lewis Hamilton, who has often shone on the Catalan circuit over the years.
In 2024, Lewis Hamilton only finished ahead of Charles Leclerc in a race once, at the Imola Grand Prix. Asked by Sky Sports after the race on Sunday, the Briton responded very briefly, reflecting his deep discouragement. “Not really, it just wasn’t a good day,” he said.
When asked about the strategy, after initially complaining on the radio, he responded: « The strategy was good, the team did a good job. That’s all. »
A slump for Hamilton?
Lewis Hamilton remains the highest-ranked driver in the championship without a podium this season.
Conversely, his teammate Charles Leclerc secured his third podium of the year after overtaking Max Verstappen in the final laps. After the race, the interviewer then said to him: « I hate to see you in this state… »
Lewis Hamilton replied: « What do you want me to say? I just had a really bad day, I have nothing to say. It was a difficult day, there is nothing more to add, it was terrible.
There’s no point in explaining, it’s not your fault, I just don’t know what else to say.
Lewis Hamilton also expressed doubts about Ferrari’s ability to explain why it was so slow during the race.
Since then, the team boss, Frédéric Vasseur, hinted that Lewis Hamilton may have managed a technical issue throughout the Grand Prix. He concluded bitterly: “I’m sure they won’t find anything. It’s probably just me.”
