Today in GT3, tomorrow in Hypercar. For several weeks, Ford has confirmed its intention to join the Hypercar category in 2027. This Friday, June 13, the American manufacturer increased its involvement in endurance racing with new details about its project.

The Hypercar entered will be built on an Oreca chassis, like Alpine and Acura in IMSA. The French company’s production has proven its worth with the results of both brands, whether in WEC or on the other side of the Atlantic.

Bringing Ford back into the premier category at Le Mans has always been a dream for many of us, said Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company. Being able to partner with Oreca is a moment of pride for Ford. We are returning to Le Mans to win, and that’s no secret. On Sunday, it will be exactly 56 years since we last stood on the top step of the podium here. That’s quite long. In 2027, we will come with the same level of commitment, and we will trust Oreca to help us compete against Ferrari and other top teams, just as we did in the 1960s.

Dan Sayers joins Ford for this program, after having held the position of program director at Red Bull Ford Powertrains.
