Ferrari’s enormous performance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans

Total domination. Ferrari was the strongest at Le Mans this year, as in 2023 and 2024. Despite many mistakes during the race, which the Scuderia is accustomed to making at the start of the season, the 499Ps won everyone over.

Porsche, which had arrived in Sarthe with a clear objective: to win, could do nothing. Despite a blazing Kévin Estre, a vengeful Laurens Vanthoor, and a solid Matt Campbell, the #6 crew couldn’t compete for long.

However, this result is a little surprise. Although the #83 is similar to the two other official ones, we would have been less likely to imagine the private car triumphing. But it doesn’t matter, in the end, it’s a Ferrari that wins. Again.

A success for the Maranello brand that is not surprising given how the firm is dominating the start of the season. A win without too much effort, despite mistakes, in Qatar, a Sunday stroll in Imola, a bit more competition at Spa, but a victory nonetheless. So, a setback at Le Mans would have been unfortunate.

Winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans is a unique sensation. Since the 2021 edition, where I lost the victory due to a technical problem in the last lap, I have fallen in love with this race, which has rekindled feelings I hadn’t experienced since my karting debut. We achieved something exceptional. Now, I am very excited, full of adrenaline, but physically tired at the same time, emphasized Robert Kubica, who crossed the line as the winner.

Under normal circumstances, the three 499Ps occupied three of the top four positions before the #50 was disqualified. But no matter, there are still two prancing horse cars on the podium.

Thanks to the experience of the Polish driver and his two teammates, Ferrari managed to achieve a new triple win in Sarthe. A performance already achieved in the 1960s, but with six consecutive victories: 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, and 1965. Record to beat? As a reminder, Ferrari was dethroned by Ford in 1966. A manufacturer that will return to the top category in 2027. Will we see a 2.0 Ferrari-Ford rivalry?
