As the FIA recently unveiled the 2026 Formula 1 calendar, Canada has just announced a contract extension with Formula 1 for at least 10 seasons. Montreal will remain on the calendar at least until the 2035 season.

Octane Racing Group, the promoter of the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, has made colossal investments in recent races to convince F1 to continue coming to Notre Dame Island. This 10-year agreement ensures that the Gilles Villeneuve circuit will be on the calendar in the coming years. This certainly delights Jean-Philippe Paradis, President of the Canadian Grand Prix organization and Vice-President of Bell (telecommunications company sponsoring the Canadian Grand Prix): “We are extremely proud to confirm that the Canadian Grand Prix of Formula 1 will continue to take place in Montreal every year until 2035. This new agreement attests to the iconic status of our race, its rich heritage, its unique setting in a city where F1 literally takes over downtown, and its place on the world stage,” he explains in the statement.

A joint statement from the City of Montreal and the Canadian Ministry of Tourism underscores the importance of F1 in Quebec: « We are proud to renew this important partnership among several stakeholders with the Formula 1 World Championship (FOWC). The Canadian Grand Prix is not only the biggest event in the country, but it is also one of the most beloved worldwide. It energizes our city and shines on the international stage, while generating significant economic benefits for Canadian businesses and citizens. This announcement is a concrete expression of our shared commitment to further develop the Canadian Grand Prix and ensure its unrivaled success for years to come. »

Stephano Domenicali, president of Formula 1, also gave his thoughts after this agreement was reached: As Formula 1 celebrates its 75th anniversary, it is entirely fitting to announce an extension with the Canadian Grand Prix, a race that has an incredible history in our sport and bears the name of a true legend, Gilles Villeneuve. Montreal is an amazing city, full of energy and passionate fans. I am delighted to confirm that we will continue to race there until the 2035 season, and that our broadcast agreement with Bell Media is also extended for the long term. I want to thank the promoter, Octane Racing Group, for its continued efforts to modernize this iconic venue in recent years, as well as all local, regional, and national political actors who have collaborated to make this event what it is today. I also thank our amazing Canadian fans. I look forward to experiencing many more unforgettable moments in Montreal with you over the next ten years.
