A well-negotiated start, a race under control

Starting a little further back than his main rivals McLaren, Charles Leclerc first avoided the collisions and incidents at the beginning of the race, including the major one involving Max Verstappen on the very first lap. Thanks to good management of his start, he quickly found a stable rhythm, avoiding putting too much strain on his tires while maintaining a competitive speed.

Management of strategy and tires

Charles Leclerc and his team focused on a balanced strategy, prioritizing consistency throughout the race. Ferrari opted for a compromise between aggression and conservation, allowing the Monegasque driver to maintain his tires in good condition during critical phases. This approach paid off by containing attacks from his pursuers and securing a podium finish.

While the two McLarens were leading the race, the Monegasque had to withstand the pressure from drivers like Lewis Hamilton, who were in pursuit. Despite the threat, he managed to keep his cool and not make any mistakes, demonstrating great maturity in race management.

I very positively evaluate our weekend as a team. Unfortunately, the pace today was not enough. I think [McLaren] was too fast for us to stay in second position, third place was the best possible result. I have no regrets about what we did today, we gave it our all, he stated after the race.

A valuable podium for Ferrari and Charles Leclerc.

This third place allows Ferrari to maintain a good points tally in the constructors’ championship, as the battle with McLaren and other teams is very close.

For Charles Leclerc, this podium also represents a confirmation of his consistency and his ability to make the most of his car, even when it is not the fastest on the grid.
