Pierre Gasly looks back on a frustrating « » result in Austria
Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto share their impressions after a difficult Austrian Grand Prix for Alpine.

Pierre Gasly experienced a long and frustrating Austrian Grand Prix, unable to capitalize on an excellent start. The Alpine driver finished 13th, while his teammate Franco Colapinto crossed the line two places behind him.
A frustrating weekend for the Frenchman
Pierre Gasly was in 6th position at the end of the first lap in Spielberg, giving hope for a good result for Alpine. However, after starting on soft tires, the Frenchman had to pit early, and his race went downhill from there.
Describing his afternoon as very disappointing, Pierre Gasly could not explain why he lacked so much pace with both hard and medium tires, while most teams performed well with these compounds.
« We have a lot to understand and analyze, as I just felt a lack of grip throughout the race, and I really struggled on all the stints », he said.
« I don’t know why, maybe damage to the car, maybe not… But we have to analyze this in detail, because it was a very long and frustrating afternoon. We had a very good start, I was 6th at the end of the first lap. After that, there’s not much to say except that it was a complicated race », he explains.
Let’s head straight to Silverstone now, for Enstone’s home race. It’s always a fantastic event, and I’m looking forward to being there to bounce back after this challenging weekend.
An incident for Franco Colapinto
Pierre Gasly was not the only Alpine driver frustrated in Austria. Franco Colapinto also had a difficult race. The Argentine was spun around by Yuki Tsunoda in turn 4, then received a five-second penalty for forcing Oscar Piastri off the track.
“I had this incident with Tsunoda in turn 4, which made us lose time,” explained Franco Colapinto.
Yuki came to see me to apologize after the race, but it’s a shame because the car seemed different after the contact, perhaps due to damage.
Regarding his clash with Oscar Piastri, who was overtaking him to lap, Franco Colapinto clarified: « He was in my blind spot. After the contact with Tsunoda, I just wanted to overtake him, and I wasn’t really focused on Oscar. »
Alpine remains last in the constructors’ standings, 15 points behind Sauber, which managed to get both its cars into the points in Austria.
