Oliver Bearman heavily penalised at British Grand Prix
The Haas driver was sanctioned by the stewards for having been responsible for an accident during the second red flag of the third free practice session.

Ten-place penalty. That is the heavy sanction received. At the very end of the third free practice session, Oliver Bearman entered the pit lane at a very high speed. But before crossing the speed limit line, the Briton locked his wheels and crashed into the barrier.
The Haas driver immediately took to the radio to indicate that his tires were cold, thus explaining the maneuver. « Car #87 slowed down for the red flag and as it approached turn 15, it significantly accelerated to race speed and entered the pit lane at 260 km/h. [The driver] lost control of the car at the pit entry and crashed into the barriers », the stewards stated in their report.
« There is no doubt that he did not return slowly to the pit lane, as he accelerated to replicate entering the pit lane under race conditions. »
This penalty could force him to start last. As a reminder, Kimi Antonelli will also have to serve a three-place grid penalty after his collision with Max Verstappen in Austria.
