Pierre Gasly, 6th in the rain: « I knew I had something to go for »
Eighth on the grid, Pierre Gasly overcame the pitfalls of Silverstone to claim a brilliant sixth place, his best result of the season. In a race marked by rain and chaos, the Frenchman remained lucid and opportunistic, putting up a good fight with the leading lights.

He wasn’t in the predictions, but he managed to stand out. Eighth on the grid after a great qualifying on Saturday, Pierre Gasly finished sixth in the British Grand Prix. His best result of the season — and a performance full of skill in challenging conditions.
“We were very, very far from expecting a race like that,” he told Canal+. “But we know that in these kinds of conditions, anything can happen. It’s chaotic, you have to make the right choices, stay on track.”
And the Frenchman ticked all the boxes. Pouring rain, almost zero visibility, a treacherous track, and cascading strategies: Silverstone delivered a high-tension Grand Prix, where instinct counted as much as strategy. Honestly, we had a great race. It’s sure nice to fight with the top teams. I had a good battle with Fernando (Alonso), with Lewis (Hamilton), with Max (Verstappen).
A chaotic race
Gasly hung on, lap after lap, in the wake of the giants. Without failing. “I knew there was something to go after,” he confides. “Today was a race where we had to stay out of trouble and take risks. That’s what we managed to do.”
This result owes nothing to chance. The driver talks about the constant progress over the weekend: « I think we made a nice improvement between P3 and qualifying. And in the race, I managed to stay on track where many got caught out. It was really very, very chaotic in the car. »
Sixth at the finish, after a race where many lost their footing, Gasly achieves a result that feels good—not just for him, but for his entire team. “I am really very, very happy for the whole team. This sixth place feels good,” he concludes.
