Pierre Gasly achieves an unreal « result » and gives Alpine its best ranking of the year
Pierre Gasly looks back on a chaotic race at Silverstone, where the Frenchman scored points for Alpine.

Pierre Gasly was beaming after achieving Alpine’s best result in 2025, finishing in sixth place at the British Grand Prix.
A successful race for Pierre Gasly
The Frenchman made no mistakes despite tricky weather conditions at Silverstone. He took the gamble of staying on intermediate tires in the early laps, a choice that proved to be rewarding while other drivers opted for slicks after the formation lap.
Thanks to a good start, he remained solidly in the top 10 for the majority of the race, before overtaking Lance Stroll in the final lap to secure sixth place, a result far removed from his performances in free practice, which he had finished in P19, P18, and P20.
« I don’t even know what to say, it’s our best result of the year, and to do it here at Silverstone in these conditions, it’s just incredible, » reacted Pierre Gasly after the race.
It was so much fun, I had a lot of pleasure from the first to the last lap. Fighting with Fernando [Alonso], Lewis [Hamilton], Max [Verstappen]… it was almost unreal at times to be in that position, especially considering where we started this weekend.
« We knew that in these conditions, we had to try things, we had nothing to lose. We knew it would be hard to stay in the top 10, so we took the right risk, gave it our all, and it paid off. I’m happy to see that as soon as we have an opportunity, we know how to seize it », he explains.
A retirement for Franco Colapinto
If Pierre Gasly was smiling after the race, it was not the case for his teammate Franco Colapinto. The Argentine had to start from the pit lane on Sunday after the team changed several components of his power unit following his crash during Q1 on Saturday.
Returning to the pits at the end of the formation lap to switch to slicks, Franco Colapinto fell victim to a transmission problem that prevented him from rejoining the track.
« I was eagerly waiting for this race, so it’s really frustrating not to have been able to participate, especially in conditions that offered a lot of opportunities, » declared Franco Colapinto.
« We didn’t understand immediately what the problem was; it took time to diagnose during the race. All I know is that I couldn’t leave the pit box. We tried several things to restart the car, but we ultimately had to give up », he explains.
« As a driver, this is exactly the kind of race where you want to be on the track. And as we’ve seen with others starting from the back, there was a way to climb up strongly today. »
The Argentine remains without a point this season, after being integrated into the Alpine team to replace Jack Doohan starting from the Miami Grand Prix.
