This decision is part of the surprising game of musical chairs within the Red Bull Racing family, triggered by the dismissal of Christian Horner.

New Team Principals at Red Bull

The departure of the Briton, after 20 years at the helm of the team, has resulted in the transfer of Laurent Mekies — until then team principal of Racing Bulls — to Red Bull, where he now takes the reins.

With the departure of the Frenchman, Alan Permane therefore inherits the position of Team Principal at Racing Bulls. A well-known figure in the paddock, he spent 24 years in Enstone, through the various eras of Benetton, Renault, and then Alpine, before being ousted from his position as sporting director in July 2023.

He joined Racing Bulls at the beginning of 2024 as a sporting director. About his new role, he stated: « I am very honored to take this role as team principal and I thank Oliver and Helmut for the trust they have in me. »

« I am delighted to continue working with Peter [Bayer, CEO] to extend the good work he has started with Laurent to advance this team. It is a new challenge for me, but I know I can count on the support of everyone here. »
