Alpine had some reliability problems at the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo
After a poor start to the weekend, Alpine upped the pace in the race. But only the #36 made it into the points, the #35 having fallen victim to a battery problem.

Very disappointing qualifications. While Alpine had shown great ambitions in Brazil, the brand with the arrowed “A” completely missed the fast lap exercise. At least on paper, since the main forces on the grid did not make it past the hyperpole stage. This is one of the many oddities of these 6 Hours of São Paulo.
But fortunately, the race pace was much better, and the Alpines managed to climb back up the hierarchy. Until a first setback, when the #35 was hit by a technical issue and returned to the pits.
« We were in the rhythm and were doing good work in the clean air. Unfortunately, we fell victim to a battery issue in the hybrid system, which had never happened to us before. The team couldn’t have done anything to prevent it, so there is no blame to assign. It’s frustrating because everyone worked hard, I love racing in Brazil, and I think the points were within our reach this weekend », reveals Ferdinand Habsburg, in the #35.
Despite this setback, the A424 returned to the track but with nearly 40 laps behind the leaders. The other car was performing well and entered the points zone. With a ninth place finish, the team earned valuable points, although there was potential to do better.
« We clearly did not maximize our potential, as I think we could have taken at least eighth place. That said, we can be satisfied with another entry in the points, which is the minimum goal for each race. We must retain all the lessons from this race before moving on and focusing on the next event in Texas. » summarizes Mick Schumacher, in #36.
Despite an assessment by the German that leans towards the positive, Alpine’s performances did not meet expectations and ambitions. On paper, Alpine missed the 6 Hours of São Paulo. But once again, it’s hard to blame the French brand as the hierarchy was completely shaken up due to a more than questionable BoP.
