Helmut Marko announces changes at Red Bull for the next two races
The Austrian revealed that the team plans to introduce several updates to the single-seater for the Belgian and Hungarian Grand Prix. With these upgrades, the Milton Keynes-based team hopes to rival McLaren on a regular basis.

Hope at Red Bull. The Austrian team is experiencing a turbulent year in 2025: a less competitive car, driver changes after only two races, and a new team principal following Christian Horner’s departure, with Frenchman Laurent Mekies taking over. This upheaval may have affected the team’s morale, as they struggle to replicate last year’s performances. However, this could change as early as the next Grand Prix with new developments planned for the Austrian team.
An announcement made by the team’s motorsport advisor Helmut Marko and reported by RacingNews365. The Austrian revealed that the team plans to introduce numerous updates to the car for the next two Grand Prix in Belgium and Hungary before going on summer break.
Objective: catch up to McLaren in the championship
A piece of news that will certainly please Max Verstappen. The Dutchman is experiencing a frustrating season. While he has still managed to perform well, especially in qualifying (securing four pole positions) with spectacular laps, like at the last Grand Prix in Silverstone, the RB21 cannot compete with the McLarens over the course of a race, especially since the gap with other cars seems to have widened over several races.
During the British Grand Prix, Piastri and Norris secured their third one-two finish in the last four races, crossing the finish line more than 30 seconds ahead of their closest rival. Verstappen, on the other hand, could do no better than fifth place, nearly a minute behind the orange cars. An unusual situation for Red Bull, which was still stringing together victories at the start of last year and now finds itself fourth in the Constructors’ World Championship.
The four-time world champion does not hide his frustration. Since the beginning of the year, he has been complaining about the behavior of his car during Friday practice sessions. While most of the time the modifications made are effective, the Dutchman is not entirely comfortable in the car. A change is expected and will take place at the next round in Spa-Francorchamps, a circuit that the Red Bull driver is particularly fond of, especially since Dutch fans are once again expected to be very numerous.
Developments and Expected Results in Belgium and Hungary
Helmut Marko has also commented on the upcoming circuits. Regarding the Belgian Grand Prix, he believes that Red Bull has a great chance of achieving a good result with a track that suits the characteristics of the Red Bull. “The Spa-Francorchamps circuit should suit our car better, especially considering the usually very changeable weather conditions. We are optimistic about this,” explained the Austrian to Speedweek.
However, he is less optimistic about the next race in Hungary, a circuit that features many slow corners which do not suit the Austrian car. Nevertheless, the Austrian hopes that these new developments could change the situation. « Hungary might be a bit more challenging for us, due to the track layout and generally high temperatures. But we will have new parts on the car for both weekends, and we hope they will have a positive effect. »
With 69 points behind in the championship, Max Verstappen has almost lost all hope of a fifth consecutive title. However, the Austrian team has not thrown in the towel yet and seems determined to shake up the hierarchy. Will we witness a turnaround during this second half of the season? The first indication will come as early as next weekend in Belgium.
