Oscar Piastri’s reaction to his pole in Sprint qualifying
The McLaren driver shone on Friday, with the best of the day's two sessions, and is aiming for nothing less than victory tomorrow.

Despite a slight scare during SQ2 where he secured the 10th and final qualifying time, Oscar Piastri pulled out all the stops in SQ3 to secure a magnificent pole for the Sprint race scheduled for tomorrow.
« It was a good lap. A little scare in SQ2 with my time annulled but the car was great all day, and I felt capable of achieving several very good laps. »
The Australian driver took the opportunity to thank his team.
« Thanks to the team that provided me with an excellent car on this track that I love. It’s my favorite of the year, and I don’t know, maybe it gives me a few tenths better! It’s always a pleasure to drive here, and when the car responds like today, it’s a joy. »
After two defeats against his teammate Lando Norris in Austria and Great Britain, Piastri plans to reverse the trend but still remains cautious of the competition.
« The recent races have been good from a pace perspective but not good enough in terms of results, so today’s performance feels good. The Red Bulls seem very fast on the straights. They won’t make life easy, and Spa is undoubtedly the worst circuit for securing pole position. »
Piastri makes it happen here on the very long straight that leads drivers from Raidillon to the braking zone at Les Combes, where the pole-sitter is often an easy prey for their opponents.
« Let’s see how it goes but the pace of the car is very strong. I felt good today so let’s hope for a good race tomorrow. »
The McLaren driver will overtake Max Verstappen and his teammate Lando Norris in the Sprint race scheduled for tomorrow at 12 p.m.
