Official: Frédéric Vasseur extended by Ferrari for several years
The Frenchman will remain at the head of the Scuderia. Frédéric Vasseur, who joined the Italian team in 2023, will remain head of the structure for an unspecified period.

This announcement puts to rest the false rumors. After the Canadian Grand Prix, several press articles reported that the relationship between Ferrari and Frédéric Vasseur might come to an early end.
Finally, this Thursday, July 31, Scuderia officially announced the extension of the Frenchman’s leadership of the team. Having arrived in 2023 in Maranello, the former Alfa Romeo member has tried to bring the Italian firm back to the forefront, notably with a strong recruitment and the arrival of Lewis Hamilton in 2025. His work can therefore continue in the coming months.
« Today, we want to acknowledge the progress made and commit to what remains to be accomplished. This reflects our confidence in Fred’s leadership, a confidence rooted in shared ambition, mutual expectations, and clear accountability. We move forward with determination and focus, united in our quest for the level of performance that Ferrari must achieve », emphasized Benedetto Vigna, the CEO of Ferrari.

But for now, the results of the Scuderia are rather complicated. The 2025 car is struggling to perform and to hold its own against McLaren and Max Verstappen’s Red Bull. Except for Lewis Hamilton’s pole position and sprint race win in Shanghai, and a few podiums from Charles Leclerc, the season is currently difficult.
Fortunately, the Scuderia has achieved some great successes in the past: notably Charles Leclerc’s two victories in Monaco and Monza in 2024.
« I am grateful for the trust Ferrari continues to place in me. This renewal is not just a confirmation: it’s a challenge to keep progressing, stay focused, and achieve our goals. Over the past 30 months, we have laid a strong foundation, and now we must consolidate it with consistency and determination. We know what is expected of us and we are all fully committed to meeting those expectations and taking a new step together », added Frédéric Vasseur.
Ferrari specified that the Frenchman’s contract was extended for several years, without revealing the exact number.
