Leclerc is distraught after yesterday’s qualifications
After a confusing qualifying session, marked by constant weather changes, Charles Leclerc found himself eliminated in Q2 with the 11th position. Frustrated, in the interview area, he reflects on this poor handling of the qualifying session.

Yesterday, in the second part of the qualification, Charles Leclerc was one of the first to request the soft tires when the track began to dry. But Ferrari refused to put on those tires for him, preferring to wait a bit longer. When the team finally called him to the pit stops to switch to the soft tires, it was already too late.
A lack of listening
This time, we can’t blame him for anything. The Monégasque asked for the tires at the perfect timing, but never got them. Well, yes, but too late.
« We will have a discussion. I am really not happy today, once again. It creates frustration and these are things that… Now we need to be better than that, but well, I’ve been saying it for a long time now. It’s starting to be a bit frustrating and I hope to be listened to a little more in the future, » said Charles Leclerc to Canal+.
A frustration supported by the very good pace shown during the tests
During the practice sessions, especially the second one, the lap times of the Ferrari car number 16 on medium tires were rather good compared to direct competitors such as Red Bull, Mercedes, and Aston Martin. For the driver from Monaco, there was reason to hope for a good result starting from the front.
« We had a very good performance in FP2, so it’s even more disappointing but oh well, that’s how it goes. »
Hope for the race
If the promising pace proves to be real in the race, then Ferrari will have good chances of making a comeback and scoring some valuable points, after the tough weekend in Barcelona. Still with a hint of disappointment, Charles Leclerc hopes to climb back to the front of the race.
« Now we have to focus on the race. I hope that at least tomorrow we’ll manage to climb up », declared the Monégasque.
Following his teammate Carlos Sainz’s penalty, Leclerc will start from the 10th position.
