Alfa Romeo will celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the Quadrifoglio in Montreal
On the occasion of the Canadian Grand Prix, the Italian brand will pay tribute to its history, one hundred years after the first appearance of the famous four-leaf clover on the bodywork of its race cars.

A centenary in pursuit of another. After a weekend of car racing marked by the celebration of the 100 years of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Formula 1 returns this weekend for the eighth round of the season at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit, located on Notre-Dame Island in Montreal. This is the opportunity for the Alfa Romeo team to celebrate the Quadrifoglio, which has become the emblem of the Milanese brand in competition.
A bit of history
100 years ago, on the occasion of the 1923 edition of the Targa Florio, a legendary Italian race held on the roads of Sicily, the driver Ugo Sivocci painted for the first time a four-leaf green clover on the body of his Alfa Romeo RL Corsa. After a fierce battle with his teammate Antonio Ascari, the father of Alberto Ascari, who would later become a double Formula 1 world champion, Sivocci emerged as the winner of the race. This victory marked the highlight of his career and demonstrated the superiority of Alfa Romeo.
A few months later, during tests on the Monza circuit, the Salerno driver is killed at the wheel of an Alfa Romeo P1 without the famous Quadrifoglio. Since that day, all racing cars from the premium Italian brand of the Stellantis group bear this emblem on their bodies.
In Montreal, the single-seaters of Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou will sport a special version of the Quadrifoglio to pay tribute to Alfa Romeo’s racing image. As we can see in the team’s Twitter post from Hinwill, the logo will be framed in gold on the engine cover.
After Zhou’s brilliant ninth place in Barcelona, the team led by Alessandro Alunni Bravi hopes to continue on this momentum and why not, take advantage of this anniversary to go after some new points.
100 years of passion. ❤️
