In 20 years, Corvette has completed the Tour de la Terre at Le Mans four times
The American team is a regular at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Present since 2000 at the world's greatest endurance race, Corvette has accumulated records.
The numbers are crazy. 174,385 kilometers completed at Le Mans. Corvette is one of the teams that knows the Sarthe track the best. With nearly 13,000 laps of the circuit, the American team has covered the equivalent of four times around the Earth since 2000.
In terms of distance, 570,129 kilometers have been covered by the yellow cars, on all the tracks in the world. This represents half of the journey made by Apollo 13 between Earth and the Moon.
The victorious C5-R and C6-R
During the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Corvette managed to quickly establish itself. From its second participation, the team emerged victorious in its category. The feat was repeated in 2002 and 2004 with the C5-R. The little sister, the C6-R, did even better with four successes (2005, 2006, 2009, and 2011). Larbre Compétition adds another line to the record with the GTE-AM.
In terms of victories, while Corvette is comfortable at Le Mans, the rest of the World Endurance Championship has been less successful for them. The American team has only emerged victorious three times. The majority of their success has been on the other side of the Atlantic, with 113 victories.
This year, the Yellows will have the opportunity to improve their statistics in Europe, but it is off to a bad start at Le Mans. Car number 33 finished in the wall at the end of the first free practice session.
