Sébastien Bourdais: “Toyota stands as a behemoth and they will be tough to beat”
French is making its return to the top category at Le Mans. For the endurance race's centenary, it hopes to fight for victory. However, beating the Toyotas proves to be a complicated mission.

He needed to regain confidence and it came late. In mid-May, Sébastien Bourdais put an end to two months of struggles by winning the race at Laguna Seca in the IMSA championship. I think everyone needed it. We feel like we’ve left the black cat behind. Since Sebring, where we got fuel on our heads and the car caught fire, we haven’t had much positive. Even at Laguna Seca, I put the car off-track, it was complicated, Sébastien Bourdais confesses.
Reliability, Cadillac’s strong point
Arriving in Sarthe with boosted spirits, the Frenchman, for his return to the top category, hopes to compete for the win. But he is aware that the task will not be simple. « Class victories are always nice, but they don’t have the same flavor as the overall win. There are 16 cars competing for the win, it’s going to be a tough battle. In IMSA, we have a car that is clearly competitive. Here, Toyota stands out as a giant and they will be hard to beat. I believe it will come down to the details. »
In his garden, Sébastien Bourdais hopes to rely on the reliability of his Cadillac to secure a good overall position. That’s the strong point. During the test day, he claims to have had good sensations behind the wheel of a car that is quite easy to drive. We will continue to work on gaining more pace.
For this 100th edition, Cadillac has entered three Hypercars. The Frenchman will be aboard number 3.
