Max Verstappen: “We were on the right strategy”
Winner for the second time in a row in Barcelona, the Dutch driver continues to widen the gap in the championship.
Max Verstappen had a smile on his face as he exited his car. Now that the Dutchman has been leading the championship for a year, he once again had a flawless race. « It’s a great pleasure to drive a car like this, and we were able to show it once again today. We saw several strategies used in the race, and for the most part, we were on the right one. Winning here is incredible! »
The Red Bull driver still managed to come back on the starting grid and his battle with Carlos Sainz in the first turn. Barely concerned, he managed to hold off the Spaniard. « I had harder tires than him at the start, so I had to manage well because it was a bit tense. It’s always difficult when you’re on the outside, but I was able to handle it. »
While his teammate and closest rival, Sergio Perez, finishes just off the podium, Max Verstappen, on the other hand, pulls away, leading the championship on his own.
