Charles Leclerc will finally start from the pit lane
Ferrari has changed the back of the Monegasque's car, who complained about its behavior during Saturday's qualifications. As a result, he will start from the pit lane instead of the 19th position.

After failing to qualify due to bad settings on his car, as he indicated to the journalists after Q1 on Saturday, Charles Leclerc will finally start from the pit lane, and not from the 19th position.
His team indeed took advantage of his poor performance to change some elements on his car, looking to optimize the race of the Monégasque. Jock Clear, the chief performance engineer of the Scuderia, stated: “We took the opportunity to change the gearbox, which actually represents the whole rear of the vehicle, in order to ensure that there is nothing abnormal.”
The limitations of the Parc Fermé
The team, however, was unable to analyze the data from the rear of the car as it was in Parc Fermé. But Charles Leclerc will still start from the pit lane. He was expecting it, having stated on Saturday that he “would be surprised if we didn’t change anything.”
“We will have to check the car and examine the data because there was clearly something strange in its behavior, and it differed significantly from what it had shown throughout the weekend up until that point,” explained the Monegasque.
« I practically had no grip at the rear. The car would oversteer a lot and was unpredictable. It seemed to be going well and all of a sudden, it would lose control. It was something related to the rear right corner. At first, I thought it could be due to my old tires, so we changed them for a new set, but the rear tires still showed this very strange behavior », he continued.
The Monegasque ensures, however, that overtakings will be possible this Sunday, and that tire degradation will be an important factor in the race.
